Discounted Tickets to The Flogging Molly Tour 2016 – 2017
Flogging Molly is an Irish-American band from Los Angeles. The band is a seven-piece Celtic punk band led by Dave King who is an Irish vocalist and a former member of the Fastway hard rock band. The band is named after a pub called Molly Malone’s where they started playing since the pub had supported them from the beginning. They played there every Monday and felt like they were flogging the pub to death hence called the name Flogging Molly. The current members of the band include: Dave King, Bridget Regan, Matt Hensley, Bob Schmidt, Dennis Casey, Nathen Maxwell and Mike Alonso. The band started after Dave’s former record label refused his idea of introducing Irish music to his sound. Therefore, he broke up with the band and gathered some friends who together started playing Celtic punk at Molly Malone’s Pub. They came up with something new which was a mix of rock and Irish traditional rock while incorporating Dave’s poetic lyrics. It’s during this period that they wrote songs such as Devil’s Dance Floor and Black Friday marking the beginning of their unique kind of rock. Later, Ted their guitarist and Jeff their bassist left the band but Dave together with Bridget Regan found new members and formed the current band. They continued playing at the pub and in 1997 put out a live album called Alive Behind the Green Door. Eventually, they formed the seven-piece band. They released an EP known as Complete Control Sessions via iTunes which is comprised of two tracks and acoustic versions of songs released earlier. In their career, they have released five studio albums: Drunken Lullabies (2002), Float (2008), Swagger (2000), Speed of Darkness (2011) and Within a Mile of Home (2004); and acoustic DVD/CD combo called Whiskey on a Sunday. The album, Float was recorded in Ireland and is considered by many as the most significant CDs of the year while the band saw it as a very influential album to their music career. The album includes their first two chart singles, Float and Requiem for a Dying Song, and was No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart when it was first released Joanne. The other album that had a major impact in the career and popularity is the Drunken Lullabies album which was released in 2009. Dave and Bridget got married in Tokyo, Japan in 2010. In the same year, the band released a live DVD/CD set known as Live At The Greek Theater. In 2011, they released the album, Speed of Darkness which was also highly acclaimed. However, no other albums have been released since then but the band is set to record a new album to be released in 2016.
